Amazing to Me

I tend to get a little teary when I just sit and watch Xan sleeping. It is at those moments that God seems to remind me of the miracle and blessing that she is. Yes, she is adopted and that makes her just wonderful to us and perfect for our family....but it's not that particular thing that moved me today. It was reflecting on just how amazing God is in His creation and intimacy with each one of us. Think about it......He knows the number of hairs on her head. I received a devotional earlier today (which could help explain why my thoughts went where they did) and it just moved me so I've reworded some of it and inserted Xan's name. It's just AMAZING to ME!

God knew what Xan would look like and who would welcome her. He knew how much Xan would weigh, what her cry would sound like, and whether she would be bald or have a head full of hair. (Psalm 139:16)

He knows how Xan will spend her days—what her hobbies and interests will be, what her job will be, and who she will share her days with. He knows the days Xan will spend honoring Him and the days she will wish she could do over. (Psalm 139:2-3)

God knows every word Xan will say before she even says it. The nice words and not-so-nice words. The angry words and the words of encouragement. The times she should have held her tongue and the times she will think of the right words to say hours too late. He knows the times she will speak up on His behalf, and He sees the times she will be too shy and unsure to speak. (Psalm 139:4)

God knows of every hair on Xan's head, which the Bible tells us are numbered. God knows every detail of her, His marvelous creation. He shaped her sweet little button nose, knows the ridges on her fingernails, and sees the blemishes she will one day try to hide. He truly loves Xan. (Matthew 10:30)

He knit Xan together in her mother’s womb. He knows Xan better than we, her parents. He knows the parts she won’t show anyone else. He sees the tears no one else sees. He will hear the dreams and frustrations no one else hears. He knows Xan, inside and out. (Psalm 139:13)

Yes, I know that all of these same things apply to me and everyone else but today.....Lord I will praise YOU because Xan is fearfully and wonderfully made! Thank you for allowing me to be her Momma.

Swimming

We (xan and I along with eva and her mom danielle) had a great time today over at my friend Kimberly's house swimming. Their children Laurel and Graham were great entertainers for Xan and Eva. Kimberly took this today and I thought it was such a good picture....so bright and of course those cute girls don't hurt either....... that is Laurel holding Xan.

Thanks again Kimberly, Laurel and Graham!

Happy Father's Day

It has been a good, lazy day for the Everitt family. We had Stan's favorite for breakfast (pancakes and sausage) and then we laid around after church and lunch just napping and watching the US Open.....what more could a golf pro ask for Father's Day.

Xan Talk

I've been talking with Xan about what we are actually doing when we pray explaining that we are talking to God.
.....So, she asked me the other day when I hung up the phone, "Who dat Mommy? God?" I guess she understands.

Xan is Hanna Tanna

Xan discovered Hannah Montana while we were in Texas. Our niece, Reagan in a huge fan and Xan spent a lot of hours watching she and Bergan (cousin on the other side) dance and sing to "Hanna Tanna". Well we broke down and got her a cd and the entertainment has been well worth the $14.95. please take special note of the microphone (aka:the garlic peeler). Enjoy

Back in the swing of things

I thought I'd try to get back in the habit of blogging so here are a few highlights of what we've done since we returned from Texas. We were there for 8 1/2 weeks and returned home on May 7. Things are going well with Caed and he seems to be improving daily (http://www.curiousaboutcaed.blogspot.com/) so thank you for all your prayers. Our family has been overwhelmed by the amazing support and provision God has provided through His people.

So here are some pics to bring you up to speed on our exciting life. You can also see pics from our trip to the zoo the week we returned home in the post just below.

She is overwhelmed with excitement about her new Elmo house shoes that we discovered in a bag of hand-me-down clothes we received. She wouldn't quit clapping and squealing about them until I got the camera and then this is the face I got.

Planting flowers with Baba....she is really enjoying gardening with Stan and I like to watch them together.

"Pants on my head, pearls on my neck and sitting on my potty.......all the elements for a perfect 2 year old photograph. I have a feeling this will show back up when I'm a teenager."

Cooling off after doing yardwork.

Trip to the Zoo

We spent one Tuesday at the Zoo in Columbia and had a great day. Stan had the day off and went to Columbia to take his 6th and final PGA exam for becoming a Certified Professional in Instruction and is now only one of 22 in the PGA with all six certifications. (OK...I'm done bragging on my husband.) Anyway...back to the zoo. It was a little overcast so not too hot and Xan is really old enough to enjoy the animals and activities. Great day in the life of the Everitt family.

Feeding the giraffe....she loved it.

She rode the carousel over and over.

Smelling the "fowers" at the botanical garden.
